The Opera of the Phantom

Musicals are fun, they can be tragic, romantic, empowering. I decided I wanted to reverse the order of my favourite musical and see how it would sound.

Here is

The Opera of the Phantom!

The reversed Phantom of the Opera, my all time favourite. I think the dynamic and power of the story is still felt but in reverse order it is quite confusing. This was fun to make and to do this I downloaded all the songs and put them into Adobe Audition to reverse them. Some of the songs are cut down due to length.

I then moved the multitrack into premiere and added a legacy title card so I could embed the audio as a video on here to share. I think I could have done this much better but it was still fun to try even if it was a tad tedious towards the end.

My Place or yours?

My place or yours?

This scene given this context changes everything!

I decided for this post to make a Gif from a scene from my all time favourite tv show: Sherlock and added alternate subtitles. I quite like the way this turned out but I would like to experiment more with gif’s now I have learnt how to create them.

To create this I used youtube convert to get the footage. I then opened premiere and imported the mp4 file. I unlinked and deleted the audio and cut the clip to the scene I wanted. I added text using a legacy title and started it later in the clip to match when Sherlock talks.

I then exported this as an Animated Gif.

I could have made a better one but I think I want to experiment more with this and create better ones with alternate subtitles as it’s odd but fun.

The Darkness

Horror films are my favourite. The way they can grip the audience. Leave them on the edge of their seats, nervous with anticipation of the next jump scare. It’s wonderful and some of my favourites are therefore the focus of this post.

I decided to take two well known horror films and mashup the posters.

The films I chose were Insidious and The Conjuring.

To mash these together I used Photoshop and after playing with opacity brought in the nun and placed her over the shadow figure on the Insidious poster

mashup edit photo final

The opacity was hard to get right as I wanted the effect to be subtle but also to stand out. I thought this project was quite fun to create and although I’m not overly fond of using Photoshop I quite like how this turned out.

Room Goals for sure

Pinterest is a wonderful platform. Full of inspiration and tips and tricks. For this post I decided to look at things I’d like to have in my room and try and create a sort of Pinterest mood board of images for the things that inspire my inner interior designer.

I really like the look of plain bright walls with simple monochrome colour schemes but with pops of colours. These images sum up my style inspiration for my future room goals. I especially love the colour of the record player and I think having retro technology brings a relaxed and happy atmosphere to a room and would be a place to relax after a long day.

Motivation is a myth

Motivation is a MYTH.

Does motivation really exist? Think about it. How do you get motivated?

You realise you have no choice so you have to get it done. So you do it. That’s not motivation. That’s compulsion.

You want to change your life but only because others make you feel bad about the way you live so you want to change it. That’s comparison and a need to be better than others.

In this blog post I created some backwards motivational posters. There are so many of these types of photos and posters that we are so used to them and don’t actually take it in or listen.

So, I created the backwards versions so people would notice and actually react to it. Its a bitter sweet contrast with the lovely happy photo and the depressive text. Here are some examples I put together using the Photoshop Express app on my phone.

Winter is Coming

For quite some time now I have been loving Game of Thrones. Admittedly not the Tv series but in my defence I have only seen 2 episodes to date. I have been reading the books and I really enjoy them.

So when stumbling upon Join the Realm I was excited to get to create my own House Banner.

I chose to look through the different houses and see what the symbols were before choosing some I like the most, one of which being my favourite house from the books at least.

I like the colours on both of these House Banners I created but I do think I prefer the House Sellers one although now I wish I’d have changed the name. I used the presets on the website to create these but there is an option to design your own.

A Uni Vlog!

A Uni Vlog, how exciting right?

So as I watch a lot of YouTube videos and have made vlogs before I decided to follow a sort of format of videos I’ve seen before.

I decided to do a vlog in the style of a Follow me around which is a popular Youtube Tag and category of vlog that shows the audience the typical day in the vloggers life. This type of video is more personal and appeals to the curiosity we all have about the way others live their lives.

My favourite example is this video here:

Vlog: A Day In My Life//Follow Me Around

Sometimes we watch these types of videos to motivate us or inspire us to be better organised or explore more.  I combined this style of vlog with another typical and popular video tag which is the  what I eat in a day style. I also like to watch these as it gives me ideas for meals and inspires me to try new things as well as curiosity into what other people actually eat and how they prepare their food.

Some vlogs of this nature feature meal prep which I very useful and good to see in practice in other people’s busy lies which makes it easier to figure out how to incorporate it into my own life if I can.

As I already am a vlogger the idea of making one for a blog post was quite exiting so I decided one morning when the weather was suitable to show my day at University.

I used my cameras front facing camera to chat with the audience and make the vlog more personal and friendly.

In the edit I decided to use some transitions to make the vlog flow smoothly. I added music which was the Modern  soundtrack on the IMovie app on my phone as this added a fun light soundtrack to my day and reflected how my day went.
